Job Description

Our client, a prestigious pharmaceutical company dedicated to developing life-saving therapies, is seeking an experienced and innovative Principal Pharmaceutical Research Scientist to join their world-class drug discovery team. This is a remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere in the US. You will play a critical role in identifying and advancing novel drug candidates through the preclinical stages, utilizing state-of-the-art techniques and technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of molecular biology, pharmacology, and drug development processes.

Responsibilities:

Lead the design and execution of complex research projects focused on the discovery and characterization of new therapeutic agents. Develop and validate innovative biological assays to support target identification and validation, as well as compound screening. Utilize a wide range of molecular and cellular biology techniques, including genomics, proteomics, and high-throughput screening. Interpret experimental data, troubleshoot complex scientific challenges, and guide research direction. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including medicinal chemistry, DMPK, and toxicology, to advance drug candidates. Stay current with the latest scientific literature, emerging technologies, and industry trends in drug discovery and relevant therapeutic areas. Prepare research reports, contribute to regulatory filings, and present findings at scientific conferences. Mentor and guide junior scientists, fostering a collaborative and productive research environment. Contribute to the strategic planning and pipeline development for the R&D department. Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, or a related life science discipline. A minimum of 10 years of progressive research experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with a strong focus on small molecule or biologic drug discovery. Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing complex biological assays and research studies. Proven experience in at least one therapeutic area (e.g., oncology, immunology, neuroscience). Hands-on experience with advanced techniques such as CRISPR, NGS, flow cytometry, or advanced microscopy. Strong understanding of drug development principles, including preclinical evaluation and IND-enabling studies. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to present complex scientific information clearly.
