Our client, a leader in advanced materials manufacturing, is seeking an exceptional Principal Process Engineer to join their team. This role is based at our cutting-edge facility and is crucial for optimizing and innovating our chemical manufacturing processes. The Principal Process Engineer will be responsible for leading complex projects, developing and implementing new process technologies, and ensuring the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of our operations. This position demands a high level of technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to drive process improvements within a chemical engineering context.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, scale-up, and implementation of new chemical processes and technologies. Optimize existing manufacturing processes to improve yield, reduce costs, enhance safety, and minimize environmental impact. Conduct thorough process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement appropriate safety measures. Develop and maintain process simulation models to predict performance and identify optimization opportunities. Troubleshoot complex process issues and implement effective solutions. Develop and execute experimental plans for pilot plant and full-scale production runs. Author detailed process design documents, P&IDs, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Collaborate with R&D, operations, and engineering teams to ensure successful technology transfer and implementation. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on process engineering principles. Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements in chemical engineering. Manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to budget and timeline. Qualifications:
Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in process engineering within the chemical manufacturing industry. Extensive experience with process design, scale-up, optimization, and troubleshooting. Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS). Strong understanding of chemical reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and mass transfer. Experience with process safety management (PSM) and hazard analysis techniques. Demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to manage complex engineering projects. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information effectively. Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is a plus. Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
