Our client is looking for a highly experienced Principal Process Engineer to lead innovation and optimization within their chemical manufacturing operations in San Francisco, California, US. This senior role demands a visionary leader with a proven track record in designing, implementing, and scaling complex chemical processes. You will be instrumental in driving efficiency improvements, reducing operational costs, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities include overseeing process design, conducting feasibility studies, performing detailed process simulations, and managing pilot plant operations. You will also play a critical role in troubleshooting and resolving process-related issues, mentoring junior engineers, and staying abreast of cutting-edge technologies in chemical engineering.

This position requires a deep understanding of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and separation technologies. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are paramount, along with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable strategies. You will collaborate closely with R&D, operations, and quality control teams to ensure seamless integration and successful scale-up of new processes.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent project management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams and managing budgets. A strong commitment to continuous improvement and a passion for driving technological advancements in the chemical industry are essential.

Education: A Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering is required, coupled with a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in process development and scale-up.

Leadership qualities: Exceptional leadership qualities, robust communication abilities, and a strategic mindset are expected.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and statistical analysis tools is necessary.

Experience: Experience in a regulated environment is a plus.
