Our client, a leader in the petrochemical industry, is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Principal Process Engineer to join their advanced technical team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the US, with primary focus on supporting operations and capital projects in the **Dallas, Texas, US** region and beyond.
The Principal Process Engineer will be responsible for leading the design, development, optimization, and troubleshooting of complex chemical processes. This role demands deep technical expertise in process simulation, safety analysis, and operational excellence within the petrochemical sector. You will play a key role in driving efficiency, safety, and sustainability across our client's manufacturing facilities.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the process design and engineering for new plant facilities and major modifications. Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment specifications. Perform process simulations and modeling using software such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or similar tools. Conduct rigorous process hazard analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP studies, to ensure operational safety. Optimize existing processes to improve yield, reduce energy consumption, and minimize waste. Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support for operational issues. Develop and implement process control strategies and advanced control schemes. Evaluate new technologies and methodologies for potential implementation. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of technical standards and best practices. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including project management, R&D, and operations. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field. Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in process engineering within the petrochemical or chemical manufacturing industry. Extensive experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS). Demonstrated expertise in process safety management (PSM) and hazard analysis techniques (HAZOP). Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and mass transfer principles. Proven ability to lead complex engineering projects from concept to completion. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence technical decisions. Experience in working remotely and collaborating effectively with geographically dispersed teams. Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred.
