Our client, a cutting-edge leader in Scientific Research & Development, is seeking a highly accomplished Principal Research Scientist to join their dedicated team in Denver, Colorado, US . This is an on-site role, fostering collaboration and innovation within a state-of-the-art research facility. The successful candidate will spearhead groundbreaking research initiatives, contribute significantly to scientific advancements, and mentor junior researchers in a dynamic and intellectually stimulating environment.

As a Principal Research Scientist, you will be responsible for defining research strategies, designing and executing complex experiments, and interpreting results to advance our understanding in a specific area of biotechnology. You will lead projects from conception through to publication or patent application, ensuring scientific rigor and adherence to ethical standards. Key responsibilities include:

Designing and conducting sophisticated research experiments in the field of biotechnology, ensuring methodological rigor and reproducibility. Developing innovative research hypotheses and experimental approaches to address challenging scientific questions. Analyzing and interpreting complex experimental data, employing advanced statistical and computational methods. Writing high-quality scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals and presenting research findings at national and international conferences. Leading and mentoring a team of research associates and postdoctoral fellows, fostering their scientific growth and development. Securing internal and external funding through grant writing and proposal development. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including process development, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs, to translate research discoveries into practical applications. Staying abreast of the latest scientific literature and technological advancements relevant to the field. Ensuring compliance with all laboratory safety protocols and regulatory requirements. Contributing to the strategic direction of the research department and identifying new avenues for innovation.

The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Immunology) with a minimum of 7-10 years of post-doctoral research experience in an academic or industrial setting. A strong publication record in reputable journals and a proven ability to secure research funding are essential. Expertise in specific areas of biotechnology (e.g., gene editing, protein engineering, immunotherapy, drug discovery) is highly desirable. Excellent leadership, critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills are required. Experience in managing research projects and mentoring junior scientists is crucial for this role. The ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced research environment is paramount.
