Principal Research Scientist - Drug Discovery

Role Overview:

As a Principal Research Scientist, you will be instrumental in designing and executing research strategies to identify and validate new therapeutic targets. You will lead independent research projects, contribute significantly to multidisciplinary teams, and mentor junior scientists. Your expertise will be crucial in navigating the complexities of modern drug discovery, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and implement innovative research strategies to identify and validate novel drug targets in relevant disease areas. Lead hands-on laboratory research, including experimental design, execution, data analysis, and interpretation. Critically evaluate scientific literature and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for advancing drug discovery programs. Manage multiple research projects concurrently, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality results. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including medicinal chemistry, biology, pharmacology, and DMPK. Troubleshoot complex scientific problems and develop creative solutions. Author high-impact publications, present research findings at scientific conferences, and contribute to patent applications. Mentor and guide junior research scientists, fostering a collaborative and scientifically rigorous environment. Contribute to the strategic direction of the research department and the company's overall pipeline development. Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and laboratory best practices. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or a related life science discipline. Minimum of 8 years of post-doctoral or industry research experience in drug discovery, with a strong publication record. Demonstrated expertise in a relevant therapeutic area and a deep understanding of target validation and early-stage drug discovery principles. Proven leadership experience, with the ability to independently design and execute complex research projects. Hands-on experience with a variety of molecular and cellular biology techniques (e.g., CRISPR, NGS, high-throughput screening, primary cell culture). Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences. Experience in managing project timelines, resources, and external collaborations is a plus. Proficiency in data analysis software and scientific visualization tools.
