Our client, a cutting-edge research and development organization, is seeking a highly motivated and accomplished Principal Research Scientist specializing in Molecular Biology to join their innovative team. This role offers the unique opportunity to spearhead groundbreaking research initiatives, contribute to scientific advancements, and mentor junior scientists. You will be responsible for designing and executing complex experiments, analyzing data, and interpreting results to drive key research objectives forward. The ideal candidate possesses a deep theoretical and practical understanding of molecular biology techniques, a proven ability to manage research projects independently, and a passion for scientific discovery.

Key Responsibilities: Design, optimize, and execute sophisticated molecular biology experiments using a range of techniques (e.g., PCR, qPCR, Western blotting, DNA/RNA isolation, cloning, sequencing analysis). Analyze and interpret complex experimental data, drawing scientifically sound conclusions. Develop and validate novel assays and methodologies to address specific research questions. Manage multiple research projects concurrently, ensuring timely completion and accurate reporting. Stay abreast of the latest scientific literature and technological advancements in molecular biology. Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentation at scientific conferences. Mentor and guide junior research staff, fostering a collaborative and productive research environment. Contribute to the development of research strategies and grant proposals. Ensure adherence to laboratory safety protocols and ethical research practices. Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams of scientists and researchers. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a closely related field. Minimum of 8 years of post-doctoral or industry research experience in molecular biology. Demonstrated expertise in a broad range of molecular biology techniques and instrumentation. Proven track record of successfully managing independent research projects and achieving significant scientific outcomes. Strong publication record in high-impact scientific journals. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex scientific information clearly. Experience with data analysis software and bioinformatics tools is advantageous. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, hybrid research setting located in **Chicago, Illinois, US**.
