Job Description

Our client, a groundbreaking biopharmaceutical company, is searching for an exceptional Principal Scientist to lead critical initiatives in drug discovery and development, operating remotely from **Miami, Florida, US** (or any US-based location). This pivotal role involves spearheading novel research programs aimed at identifying and validating new therapeutic targets and developing innovative drug candidates for unmet medical needs. The successful candidate will leverage cutting-edge scientific expertise, manage a team of talented researchers, and drive projects from early-stage hypothesis generation through preclinical development. You will play a key role in shaping the company's scientific strategy and contributing to the advancement of life-saving medicines.

Responsibilities: Design and execute complex research strategies to identify and validate novel drug targets. Lead and mentor a team of scientists and research associates in a remote-first environment. Develop and optimize assays for high-throughput screening and lead optimization. Oversee the design and synthesis of small molecule drug candidates. Analyze and interpret complex biological and chemical data, making critical decisions to advance projects. Collaborate with external partners, academic institutions, and key opinion leaders. Prepare high-quality scientific manuscripts, patents, and regulatory documents. Present research findings at international scientific conferences and internal meetings. Contribute to the overall scientific direction and strategic planning of the drug discovery unit. Ensure compliance with all safety, ethical, and regulatory guidelines. Qualifications: Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline such as Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Medicinal Chemistry. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in drug discovery, with a strong track record of publications and patents. Proven experience in leading scientific teams and managing complex research projects. Expertise in one or more therapeutic areas (e.g., oncology, immunology, neuroscience). Hands-on experience with various drug discovery technologies (e.g., target validation, assay development, HTS, medicinal chemistry). Demonstrated ability to design and interpret complex biological experiments. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate scientific concepts to diverse audiences. Experience working effectively in a remote or hybrid team setting. Proficiency in relevant scientific software and data analysis tools.
