Our client, a leading biopharmaceutical company at the forefront of innovative therapeutics, is seeking a distinguished Principal Scientist to join their esteemed Drug Discovery department. This is a critical hybrid role based in our state-of-the-art research facility in Denver, Colorado, US , offering a collaborative environment for groundbreaking scientific advancement.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage complex research projects focused on identifying and validating novel drug targets for unmet medical needs. Design and execute sophisticated in vitro and in vivo experiments to assess the efficacy and safety of drug candidates. Develop and implement cutting-edge assay methodologies for high-throughput screening and hit-to-lead optimization. Analyze and interpret complex biological data, drawing meaningful conclusions and guiding future research directions. Contribute to the strategic planning and direction of the drug discovery pipeline. Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including medicinal chemists, pharmacologists, and toxicologists. Author high-quality scientific publications and present research findings at international conferences. Mentor and guide junior scientists, fostering a culture of scientific rigor and innovation. Evaluate new technologies and methodologies to enhance discovery capabilities. Ensure strict adherence to all laboratory safety protocols and regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, or a related life sciences discipline. 10+ years of post-doctoral and industry experience in drug discovery research. Proven track record of successfully advancing drug candidates from discovery through preclinical development. Extensive expertise in a specific therapeutic area (e.g., oncology, immunology, neuroscience). Deep understanding of target validation, lead optimization, and preclinical development strategies. Proficiency in a wide range of molecular and cellular biology techniques, as well as in vivo models. Demonstrated ability to lead research teams and manage complex projects. Excellent scientific communication skills, both written and verbal, with a history of high-impact publications. Experience with biologics and/or small molecule drug development is required. Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for drug development (FDA, EMA).
