Principal Systems Engineer

Description & Requirements

We are seeking a talented and experienced Principal Systems Engineer to join our dynamic IT team at Gammon. In this role, you will lead the design, development and delivery of modern enterprise systems and AI-enabled applications across cloud, web and mobile platforms. If you are passionate about building scalable solutions with Azure, Node.js, React, React Native and LLM technologies, and are eager to work alongside a team of industry leaders, we invite you to join us.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the system architecture, development, testing, deployment and technical documentation for enterprise applications and AI-enabled solutions;

• Design, build and maintain scalable backend services and integrations using Node.js, with deployment and operation on Microsoft Azure;

• Drive the development of web and mobile applications using React and React Native, supporting the project implementation from system design analysis to release;

• Provide technical leadership on LLM integration, stakeholder coordination, and support, maintenance and continuous improvement of existing systems.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or above in AI, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline;

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in system design, software development and project delivery;

• Strong hands-on experience in Node.js development;

• Proven experience in web application development, preferably with React;

• Solid experience in mobile application development, preferably with React Native;

• Practical experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based application deployment;

• Strong understanding of applied LLM/ Generative AI technologies and experience integrating AI-powered features into systems;

• Strong competence in system architecture, API design, database design and system integration;

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment;

• Experience with system testing, release management, technical documentation and production support;

• Knowledge of infrastructure, DevOps, CI/CD, or cloud operations is an advantage.
