Private Equity Associate – Power & Renewables (California)
We are partnering with a leading private equity fund focused on power and renewable energy investments to identify an Associate to join their growing team in California.
Position Overview
The Associate will play a key role in evaluating, executing, and managing investments across the power and energy transition landscape, including renewables, thermal generation, and broader energy infrastructure. This is a highly analytical and execution-focused role, working closely with senior investment professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the evaluation and execution of investments across power, renewables, and energy infrastructure assets
- Build and maintain detailed financial models (project finance and corporate-level)
- Conduct due diligence, including financial, commercial, and operational analysis
- Prepare investment committee materials and presentations
- Monitor portfolio company performance and support asset management initiatives
- Analyze market trends across power markets, including thermal generation and renewable energy sectors
Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in investment banking and/or private equity
- Strong experience within power, energy, or infrastructure sectors (renewables and/or thermal generation preferred)
- Advanced financial modeling and valuation skills
- Demonstrated experience supporting live transactions and deal execution
- Strong academic background
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with project finance structures
- Exposure to U.S. power markets and energy transition themes
- Prior experience evaluating renewable energy (solar, wind, storage) and/or conventional power assets
