Our client, a growing and innovative manufacturing organization, is seeking a Process Engineer to support and optimize mixing and compounding operations. This role offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally with R&D, production, and maintenance teams to drive process improvements, enhance product quality, and support operational excellence. The anticipated salary for this role is between $65,000-$95,000 a year.
Responsibilities:
- Set up, monitor, and optimize machinery and process parameters for compounding and mixing operations
- Partner with R&D to scale new formulations from development into full production
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to minimize downtime and ensure consistent output
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams on equipment upgrades and reliability improvements
- Analyze production data to identify trends and opportunities for optimization
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
- Develop and maintain process documentation, SOPs, and work instructions
- Provide technical guidance and training to production staff
- Support production scheduling, prioritization, and daily operations as needed
- Serve as backup to the Production/Operations Manager during planned absences
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or a related field
- 2–5 years of process engineering experience in manufacturing environments
- Experience with polymer compounding, extrusion, or plastics processing strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience with machinery setup, troubleshooting, and process optimization
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment
- Effective communication skills across technical and non-technical teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); ERP experience is a plus
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies preferred
