Job Description

Our client, a growing and innovative manufacturing organization, is seeking a Process Engineer to support and optimize mixing and compounding operations. This role offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally with R&D, production, and maintenance teams to drive process improvements, enhance product quality, and support operational excellence. The anticipated salary for this role is between $65,000-$95,000 a year.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up, monitor, and optimize machinery and process parameters for compounding and mixing operations
  • Partner with R&D to scale new formulations from development into full production
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to minimize downtime and ensure consistent output
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams on equipment upgrades and reliability improvements
  • Analyze production data to identify trends and opportunities for optimization
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, SOPs, and work instructions
  • Provide technical guidance and training to production staff
  • Support production scheduling, prioritization, and daily operations as needed
  • Serve as backup to the Production/Operations Manager during planned absences

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or a related field
  • 2–5 years of process engineering experience in manufacturing environments
  • Experience with polymer compounding, extrusion, or plastics processing strongly preferred
  • Hands-on experience with machinery setup, troubleshooting, and process optimization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment
  • Effective communication skills across technical and non-technical teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); ERP experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies preferred
