Process Engineer - Plastics Manufacturing (Film and Compounding) - Base Salary to 110k/year - Los Angeles, CA
Our client, a plastic film manufacturing organization, is seeking a Process Engineer to support production operations, process optimization, and new product development within a manufacturing environment. This role is highly hands‑on and requires direct involvement on the production floor to support process improvements and equipment performance.
Responsibilities
- Conduct processing trials including film extrusion, polymer compounding, and physical testing
, followed by detailed technical reporting.
- Optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, product quality, and throughput during production and new product launches.
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce scrap, minimize setup time, and lower production costs
.
- Provide day‑to‑day technical support to production teams for troubleshooting and process stability.
- Support equipment upgrades, process modifications, and new equipment installations
.
- Participate in process validation and product qualification activities
.
- Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions to resolve production issues.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, and trial protocols
.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering or related field) or equivalent hands‑on experience.
- 7+ years of experience in plastics manufacturing
, specifically within one or more of the following:
- Polymer compounding
- Film extrusion
- Plastics or polymer processing
- Demonstrated experience working in a manufacturing/production environment with direct floor involvement.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience performing process optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to create technical documentation including process procedures, reports, and validation protocols.
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
Compensation
- Base salary in the 85k - 110k/year range.
