Currently, we are looking for a Product and Application Engineer (Facade Focused) to be part of EJOT Canada’s technical team. He/She will be based locally in Ontario and will support customers, sales teams, and internal departments with product development, application engineering, and technical façade solutions.
The Product and Application Engineer (Facade Focused) is expected to have the following criteria:
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
- Experience in product engineering, application engineering, façade systems, or building envelope market.
- Understanding of the Canadian construction and façade market; knowledge of North American standards is an asset.
- Familiar with approvals and certifications such as CSA, CCMC, FM, UL, and other industry approvals (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience in quality audits, properties testing, technical documentation, and interacting with customers on day-to-day technical requests.
- Familiar using MS Office, AutoCAD, structural analysis software, ETABS, SAP2000, or similar engineering software.
- Ability to relate technical information to non-technical customers.
- Excellent technical and problem-solving skills.
- Good leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to enhance knowledge of how to improve product quality and application performance.
- Positive attitude and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
- Understanding of the fastener market is an asset.
- Live locally and be able to work legally in Canada without sponsorship.
- Willing to work under pressure to meet task deadlines and customer requirements.
Job responsibilities, but not limited to, are as follows:
- Takes ownership of projects from idea stage to completion, including handling local product engineering requirements to meet Canadian codes and standards for EJOT products.
- Works with other team members to successfully develop new products or improve existing products to meet customer needs, including developing design ideas based on customer interests, budgets, and market research.
- Performs product testing, site visits, inspections, and field evaluations as necessary to fulfill customer requests, including creating detailed specifications, calculations, reports, and testing plans.
- Responsible for the design, engineering, documentation, and technical support of façade-related products and systems, ensuring quality of products and services on projects.
- Analyzes market and industry product trends, determines product feasibility, evaluates costs, and supports return-on-investment assessments.
- Creates full product designs and specifications using computer software modeling techniques, including material selection and manufacturing process considerations.
- Supports façade project implementation aspects such as site reviews, inspections, testing, report preparation, and design criteria as per contract documents and performance specifications.
- Manages the technical design of projects and understands best-in-class façade fastening and cladding solutions, including roof, wall, and insulation systems.
- Reviews façade and cladding contractor technical submissions and attends contractor workshops or site meetings when necessary.
- Responsible for day-to-day technical requests from internal teams or external clients to meet project expectations, including writing letters, reports, and preparing façade sketch details, drawings, and design systems based on environmental and structural requirements.
- Works closely with sales engineers, application engineers, quality engineers, technicians, and other internal stakeholders to complete tasks and projects successfully.
- Provides specialist technical input, resolves technical problems, and assists in improving overall product quality and application efficiency.
- Represents EJOT Canada at technical meetings, workshops, and industry events, and provides professional input during discussions with architects, consultants, contractors, and other designers.
- Coordinates and liaises with other designers, including architects, engineers, and external consultants, ensuring seamless integration of EJOT products into façade systems.
