**Quality Engineer (Product Team)**
**Role Summary**
The Quality Engineer is responsible for building quality into the product through automation, risk-based testing, and tight collaboration with Product, Design, and Engineering. This role focuses on preventing defects, validating outcomes, and protecting customer trust not manual inspection or late stage signoff.
Quality Engineers operate as product engineers with a quality specialty, contributing directly to discovery, delivery, and continuous improvement.
**Core Responsibilities**
**Product Quality Execution**
- Implement and maintain **automated tests** across the product stack (unit, integration, contract, end-to-end).
- Validate product behavior against customer needs, acceptance criteria, and quality standards.
- Identify quality risks early and escalate with clear impact framing.
**Shift-Left Quality Practices**
- Participate in product discovery, design reviews, and backlog refinement to influence quality upstream.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure **testability, observability, and resilience** are built into designs.
- Contribute to defining acceptance criteria and quality signals before development begins.
**Continuous Delivery & Automation**
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Maintain fast, reliable quality feedback loops.
- Reduce reliance on manual testing through tooling and automation.
**Defect Analysis & Prevention**
- Perform root cause analysis on defects and test failures.
- Drive corrective actions that improve system behavior and engineering practices.
- Contribute to incident reviews and learning loops.
**Collaboration & Product Team Partnership**
- Work daily with Software Engineers, Product Managers, and Designers as part of the product team.
- Provide data-driven quality insights to support product and delivery decisions.
- Support release readiness with risk-based assessments not checklist signoff.
**Quality Standards & Improvement**
- Follow and help evolve quality engineering standards and best practices.
- Contribute reusable test frameworks, tools, and patterns.
- Continuously improve coverage, reliability, and signal-to-noise of tests.
**Strategic Product & Commercial Enablement Capabilities**
- Demonstrated ability to create and execute innovative, technology-led strategies that enable Customer and Commercial functions within a Fast-Moving Consumer Packaged Goods (FMCG) environment, including sales, marketing, customer service, and route-to-market operations.
- Deep, hands-on expertise in full-stack engineering and Salesforce platform development, including modern front-end frameworks, API-driven back ends, cloud infrastructure, and Salesforce ecosystems (Sales, Service, Experience, and custom platform extensions), with an emphasis on scalable, secure, and performant solutions.
- Extensive experience leading technology experimentation from hypothesis and rapid prototyping through production deployment delivering deployable product outputs that validate customer value, operational impact, and technical feasibility.
- Proven track record of defining measurable business outcomes (e.g., revenue growth, cost reduction, cycle-time improvement, customer satisfaction, adoption, and productivity gains) and being directly accountable for achieving those outcomes through technology and product delivery.
**Decision Scope**
- Test approaches and automation techniques for assigned product areas.
- Risk identification and mitigation recommendations.
- Test data, environments, and tooling usage within established standards.
**Success Measures**
- Low defect escape rates and reduced rework.
- High automation coverage with meaningful signal.
- Fast, stable feedback in CI/CD pipelines.
- Improved product reliability and customer experience.
- Effective collaboration and contribution to team outcomes.
**Mindset & Behaviors**
- Thinks like a **product engineer**, not a tester.
- Prevents problems instead of finding them late.
- Curious, analytical, and outcome driven.
- Comfortable challenging assumptions in service of quality.
**Required Experience & Skills**
- Bachelor s degree preferably in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience in the Product Operating Model.
