About The Role Waymo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Product Data Scientist to join its Product Data Science team. This role plays a critical part in leveraging data to optimize operational efficiency, enhance rider experience, and support the scaling of the Waymo Driver technology.

The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, and Operations teams to develop and deploy advanced statistical models, conduct in-depth data analysis, and build robust data infrastructure. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience in modeling and optimization. The role follows a hybrid work schedule and reports to the Manager of Product Data Science.

The primary goal is to use data-driven insights to improve operational processes, response times, and customer satisfaction, ultimately contributing to Waymo’s mission of safe and accessible autonomous transportation.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in coding with Python and SQL

• Extensive experience with modeling and optimization techniques

• Minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience

• Strong communication skills and ability to manage stakeholder relationships

• Experience in developing and deploying statistical and operational models

• Familiarity with data infrastructure, reporting tools, and experimentation frameworks

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy statistical models to determine optimal staffing levels, ensuring rapid and safe responses to autonomous vehicle and rider inquiries

• Collaborate with Engineering teams to design and implement optimization models for request prioritization and queuing systems, enhancing operational scalability

• Conduct comprehensive data analysis and trend evaluation to identify opportunities for improving Operations Center efficiency and rider satisfaction

• Partner with Product and Operations teams to define key metrics, measurement frameworks, and promote a culture of experimentation

• Build and maintain a robust data foundation and reporting infrastructure to support ongoing analysis and decision-making

• Translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations for cross-functional teams
