The Role: Production Assistant Trainer - Contract

Availability: Full-time with an ability to work mornings, afternoons, and occasional overtime, holidays, and weekends.

The Production/Distribution Trainer plays an essential role in growing talent in our business through collaboration and sharing best practices within their department. You know how to be curious about opportunities and how to be real with feedback and support. 

You help to quickly and efficiently promote the importance of quality for new hires in your room, all while making them feel welcome and supported. Through your hands-on approach to training you support new hires to achieve their goals and targets and contribute to the success of the room. Reporting to the Department Manager, the Trainer undertakes the following RESPONSIBILITIES:

Formally welcome and orient new hires to your room, ensuring their comfort and familiarity with the space, the team, the brand, Health & Safety practices and the product lines.

Execute hands-on training with all new hires, ensuring their confidence, competence, and comfort with production. Follow in-room training and onboarding plans to ensure consistency, equity and success for new hires.

Introduce employees to quality standards and production expectations while creating a fail-safe environment for practice and learning during their onboarding period. Lead by example by demonstrating quality, cleanliness, and safety standards at all times.

Motivate and engage new employees, encouraging and promoting their success through check-ins, in-the-moment support, hands-on collaboration, and sharing of best practices. Create an engaging work culture with a kind, welcoming and supportive attitude and by setting clear expectations.

Train-on and support proper production methods  year-round, as needed for all product lines in the room

Spot-check product weights, quality, and monitor to ensure correct tools, SOPs, molds, and processes are being utilized. Ensure all quality measures are explained, followed, and prioritized. Coach and provide feedback on opportunities in the moment. 

Lead hands-on training for new product launches for Production Assistants, as needed, with attention to quality, process, and detail and follow up accordingly

Collaborate frequently with room leadership to support new hires and trainees, ensuring that everyone has the tools and resources needed to succeed. Also ensure that any performance concerns are elevated early so as to support learners appropriately

Perform Production Assistant duties in the room as needed, including but not limited to:

Assist in producing high-quality Lush products

Perform dexterous tasks, including but not limited to: Filling, pouring, and pressing product accurately (either manually or with use of department-specific machinery)

Pack product and correctly label packages

Keep up with production demands and productivity targets

Perform physically laborious tasks, including but not limited to: loading/pulling skids, pushing racks, carrying bins of product

Exhibits outstanding communication skills (verbal /written) and demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with leaders, peers, and support teams

Excellent coaching and feedback skills 

Comfortable providing and receiving feedback

Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and manage priorities 

Demonstrates curiosity with excellent listening and problem-solving skills 

An accomplished trainer with a track record for supporting others to achieve success

Demonstrated commitment to health and safety standards

Demonstrated commitment to good manufacturing practices

Able to do physical work for 8-hour shifts, on your feet, and lift 50 pounds

Capable of physical activities such as standing for long durations, bending, pulling, and pushing

Confident with basic mathematics, ability to count, including addition and subtraction

Reliable, consistent attendance, punctual, and dependable

Comfortable with reading, writing, and speaking English in order to communicate with colleagues on all platforms (i.e., in person, via email, via Google Chat)

Preferred:

Has held current role for a minimum of 1 year

Experience as a Team Leader (Contract or Core)

Experience as a Production Trainer (Contract or Core)

Formal training or coaching experience

Formal leadership experience

Accustomed to meeting goals and deadlines in a seasonal and fast-paced environment

Ability to navigate email and Google apps (i.e., Sheets, Docs, Chat, and Meet)

Ability to work occasional overtime, weekends, holiday based on the needs of the business

Ability to adapt production and quality expertise to other production rooms/departments
