The Role: Project Architect

We are hiring a Project Architect to lead project-level execution and permitting for a prefabricated housing platform, translating a standardized product system into approved, buildable projects across multiple jurisdictions.

This role involves site planning, permitting, coordination of architectural, structural, and MEP documentation at the project level.

You will ensure projects move efficiently through local jurisdictions without compromising the integrity of the product platform. This is a hands-on role. You are expected to produce drawings, coordinate consultants and with local jurisdictions, and resolve issues in real time.

The role is based full-time in Austin, TX and would be ideal for an experienced designer who prefers to work hands-on, with a potential to grow a team over time.

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Site planning and feasibility: support Real Estate team with conducting site analysis and feasibility analysis, applying our proprietary prefabricated products and designs.
  • Project delivery: lead project execution from concept to entitlement, permitting, and construction support.
  • Documentation and coordination: develop complete permitting and construction documentation; coordinate with local consultants on site specific conditions.
  • Stakeholder coordination: coordinate with local planning and building departments to bring all plans and drawings to full approval and compliance.
  • Construction support: support projects through RFIs, submittals, field issue resolution.
  • Product feedback: aggregate recommendations for Product Design team based on project-specific learnings.

Qualifications

  • Relevant training in Architecture and Urban Design.
  • Minimum 6-10 years of professional experience in architecture.
  • Proving ability of site planning abilities, zoning and code analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of IBC/IRC.
  • Proven track record of producing drawings through every stage of permitting and construction.
  • Proven ability of coordination with local jurisdictions and delivering fully compliant and approved designs.
  • Proven ability of taking designs through construction administration.
  • Ability to produce visualizations to illustrate new project feasibility and coordination (not for final project marketing and sale).
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills; comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., Revit, Enscape, etc).
  • Experience working with prefabricated / modular / panelized construction is preferred but not required.
