Role Purpose
The Project Controls Engineer is responsible for establishing and maintaining an integrated planning, cost control, and performance monitoring system across steel fabrication and erection projects. The role ensures schedule adherence, cost visibility, and data-driven decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
Core Responsibilities1. Integrated Project Controls Setup
- Develop and maintain integrated project control systems (Planning + Cost + Progress)
- Establish WBS, CBS, and reporting structures aligned with project scope
- Define project KPIs, milestones, and control procedures
- Prepare and manage baseline and revised schedules using Primavera P6
- Identify critical path activities and constraints
- Perform schedule updates, slippages analysis, and recovery planning
- Monitor budget vs actual cost vs forecast (CTC)
- Track commitments, expenditures, and project cash flow
- Support cost optimization and financial performance analysis
- Develop progress measurement systems (weightages, rules of credit)
- Prepare S-curves, dashboards, and performance reports
- Generate weekly/monthly project control reports for management
- Identify schedule and cost risks and maintain risk registers
- Conduct delay analysis (EOT support) with proper documentation
- Recommend mitigation and recovery strategies
- Work closely with Planning, QS, Procurement, Production, and Site Teams
- Ensure alignment between schedule, cost, and execution
- Support decision-making with real-time project data insights
- Track and assess variation impacts on time and cost
- Coordinate with commercial team for proper change documentation
- Update project controls based on approved variations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil / Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 6–10 years of experience in project controls / planning
- Strong experience in steel structures / PEB / fabrication & erection projects
Technical Skills
- Advanced Excel (dashboards, cost tracking, data analysis)
- Familiar with ERP systems and project control tools
- Understanding of cost control, contracts, and construction sequencing

Preferred Profile
- Experience in fast-track industrial / steel / oil & gas projects
