The Career Foundation is currently seeking a full-time, Quality Engineering Specialist on behalf of one of our employer partners who are world leaders in food production.

- Salary: $31.15 - $33.15 (shift premium for nights and weekend shifts)

Summary of the position:
The Quality Engineering Specialist supports multiple manufacturing sites by ensuring product quality, food safety, and process efficiency through both daily quality checks and continuous improvement initiatives. This role combines hands-on quality assurance with data analysis, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance overall quality systems and operational performance.
Your Background:
- Post-secondary education in Engineering (Process, Chemical, Industrial, or related field)
- 1–2 years of experience in a quality or manufacturing environment (food industry preferred)
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food safety/quality systems
- Familiarity with GFSI standards such as BRC is an asset
- Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Minitab)
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or working toward certification
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to identify process gaps and recommend improvements
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, shifts, and locations
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between facilities
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine quality and process checks across production, packaging, sanitation, and warehouse operations
- Verify functionality and accuracy of testing equipment (e.g., thermometers, scales)
- Monitor inspection results and communicate potential quality or safety concerns
- Prepare reports and summarize findings for QA leadership
- Collect environmental monitoring samples for laboratory testing
- Support development and delivery of quality and food safety training
- Conduct time studies, process mapping, and workflow analysis
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma tools
- Support plant trials and communicate product and process insights to stakeholders
- Assist with audit preparation and regulatory inspections
- Analyze data, identify trends, and develop dashboards to support decision-making
- Support implementation of new processes, tools, and quality improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance quality and sanitation processes
- Ensure compliance with GMP, food safety, and health & safety standards
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or related field
- 1–2 years of experience in a quality or manufacturing role (food industry preferred)
- Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and quality systems
- Experience with data analysis and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI, Minitab)
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to detect process deviations
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive and results-driven approach
- Physically capable of performing plant-based activities
- Flexible to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
- Willingness to travel between facilities as required
- Valid driver’s license required
