The Primary Construction Team consists of ACCIONA Infrastructure Canada Inc. (ACCIONA) and Amico Major Projects Inc. (Amico), as Trillium Guideway Partners (TGP).
What is the project?
The Ontario Line (“OL”) is a fully integrated, stand-alone, rapid transit system that connects Ontario Science Centre to the Exhibition and Ontario Place grounds. The Northern Civil, Stations and Tunnel (“NC”) project consists of approximately 7 kms of underground subway and elevated guideway, with stations along the segment providing connections to surface bus and streetcar routes. The NC project has been divided into two main progressive design-build contracts: (1) the Elevated Guideways and Stations Contract (“EGS”) and the Pape Tunnel and Underground Station Contract (“PTUS”), with supporting Early Works.
What is the Opportunity?
The Quality Lead is responsible for ensuring the consistent implementation of quality standards across all construction activities. This role involves direct supervision, coordination, and technical support to the Quality Control Coordinators and close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to uphold project quality objectives.
Responsibilities
•Supervise, mentor, and provide technical guidance to Quality Control Coordinators.
•Assign, schedule, and monitor daily QC tasks to ensure timely and thorough execution.
•Oversee field inspections, material testing, and quality checks conducted by QC Coordinators, ensuring adherence to project specifications.
•Review and validate inspection reports and Non-Conformance Reports prior to submission to the Construction Quality Control Manager.
•Ensure accurate documentation and traceability of inspections, test results, and quality control activities in accordance with project record-keeping protocols.
•Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and third-party inspectors to ensure compliance with approved quality plans and contractual requirements.
•Assist the Construction Quality Control Manager in reviewing, revising, and maintaining quality-related components of the Construction Quality Management Plan.
•Collaborate with construction teams to address and resolve Non-Conformances promptly.
•Monitor compliance with Inspection and Test Plans, project specifications, and quality procedures.
•Conduct regular quality briefings and training sessions for site personnel to promote a strong quality culture and awareness.
•Participate in kick-off and pre-activity meetings to ensure all trades understand quality requirements before commencing work.
•Support the Construction Quality Control Manager in continuous improvement initiatives, audits, and root cause analyses.
•Lead periodic internal quality audits and assist in external audit readiness and responses.
You’ll bring to the Team (Knowledge, Skills, Competencies)
•Strong understanding of construction quality management systems and standards.
•In-depth knowledge of Inspection and Test Plans, Non-Conformance Reports, and Material Approval Processes.
•Familiarity with industry-specific codes and regulations.
•Proficiency in reviewing construction drawings and technical submittals.
•Experience with quality documentation systems and construction management software
•Proven ability to identify quality risks and implement corrective actions.
•Skilled in developing, implementing, and monitoring Quality Control Plans.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear reporting, coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
•Ability to assess technical problems and propose practical solutions.
