Risk Analyst / Quant Developer (Python, Market Risk)

Duration: 12 months (extension possible)

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 4 days onsite)

Hours: 9–5, Monday–Friday

Overview

This role supports market risk analytics and application development within a capital markets environment. The position focuses on building and maintaining risk models and applications used to estimate P&L, while collaborating with quantitative, technology, and business teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain risk applications for P&L and market risk analysis
  • Translate quantitative methodologies and business requirements into technical solutions
  • Design, build, and test solutions within a big data environment (e.g., PySpark, HDFS)
  • Perform validation and support UAT for risk models and applications
  • Collaborate with IT and stakeholders on system enhancements and DevOps processes
  • Support performance optimization and ongoing improvements
  • Contribute to reporting, documentation, and process improvements

Must-Have Skills & Experience

  • Strong Python development experience (finance/risk applications)
  • 2+ years of capital markets experience (Market Risk, Product Control, or similar)
  • Knowledge of derivatives pricing (FICC, equity, credit)
  • Understanding of market risk concepts (VaR, ES, Greeks)
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with big data tools (PySpark, Spark, HDFS, Scala)
  • Exposure to AI/ML tools or frameworks (e.g., Copilot, RAG, transformers)
