Our challenge
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Quantitative Developer to join our Toronto-based Quantitative Development team. This strategic role provides an excellent opportunity to work closely with the Quantitative Research and Investments teams, delivering cutting-edge technology solutions and advanced analytics that underpin our quantitative investment strategies. The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Toronto, ON is CAD $120k - CAD $130k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
Design, build, deploy, and support robust, production-grade quantitative models and portfolio optimization tools that enhance investment decision-making.
Collaborate with research and investment teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions adhering to software engineering best practices.
Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code, incorporating automated testing, peer reviews, and version control to ensure high reliability and maintainability.
Work within a dynamic, members Agile development team, fostering continuous improvement, regular communication, and iterative delivery of features and solutions.
Maintain and enhance existing models and tools, troubleshoot production issues, and implement enhancements to support evolving investment strategies and data needs.
Requirements:
Expert proficiency in developing, validating, and deploying complex mathematical models and optimization solutions suitable for production use.
Extensive experience with Python, particularly with pandas for data analysis, manipulation, and scripting for quantitative workflows.
Strong ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries for retrieving, aggregating, and analyzing large datasets.
Deep understanding of asset management and quantitative investing principles, including familiarity with financial statements, risk metrics, pricing models, and data.
Demonstrated strong mathematical, statistical, and analytical capabilities to develop sophisticated models and interpret complex data.
Preferred, but not required:
Holders of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation are highly valued.
Master of Mathematical Finance (MMF), PhD, or equivalent advanced degree in Financial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related fields.
Hands-on experience with Databricks, cloud-based data platforms, or similar data engineering environments.
