Job Description

R&D Electrical Engineer, Quantum Energy Systems

Company Overview:

Our company is a pioneering deep tech startup at the forefront of quantum energy storage innovation. As a lean, mission-driven team, we thrive on rapid prototyping, cross-disciplinary collaboration and solving complex engineering challenges to turn quantum physics into practical, scalable products.

Our current focus is on developing our groundbreaking room-temperature macroscopic quantum energy storage technology that promises orders of magnitude greater energy density, faster charging, and higher power delivery as well as being cheaper and safer compared to existing battery technology. This represents a paradigm shift in energy storage with applications spanning consumer electronics, electric vehicles, renewable grids, and beyond.

Role Summary:

To meet our ambitious goals we are hiring an R&D Electrical Engineer to focus on developing advanced technologies for our quantum energy systems, including high voltage/power, RF, and data acquisition systems. This is a hands-on position with a high-stakes, high-reward startup environment where your contributions will directly shape the future of energy storage.

In this role you will dive deep into uncharted engineering territory, design and optimize power converters, energy storage and test equipment around our novel quantum material, managing the full project lifecycle, from conceptual design and prototyping to testing and deployment of physics based electrical systems.

This role will involve circuit design, modeling, simulation, and hardware testing, including hands-on laboratory work. This role will also include research to tackle unknowns, with an emphasis on accurately characterizing the materials behavior and improving efficiency. As we scale, you'll also investigate strategies to bring this revolutionary technology to market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technology & Innovation: Develop innovative solutions for advanced electrical systems, including quantum electronics, energy storage, and high-power systems to contribute to our technology roadmap.
  • Design & Development: Create, evaluate, and interpret complex electrical architectures and subsystems for power and RF systems, including power generation, energy storage and circuit test boards.
  • Modeling & Simulation: Use CAD software and engineering tools to perform simulations, schematic design, and component sizing.
  • Testing & Validation: Develop test procedures and conduct laboratory testing to ensure compliance with the design requirements.
  • Troubleshooting: Analyze existing systems for root cause analysis on failures and provide engineering recommendations.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Create technical drawings, generate test plans and document findings including technical presentations.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, battery systems) and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: 7–9+ years of progressive engineering experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in digital/analog circuit design, component selection, PCB design, and digitally controlled power systems, Experience with CAD tools and simulation software is required.

What We Offer:

  • Chance to solve one of the world's biggest engineering challenges and pioneer quantum energy storage.
  • Competitive salary, equity in a transformative startup, and performance-based incentives.
  • Access to cutting-edge labs, tools, and resources in a flexible, collaborative work environment.
  • Comprehensive benefits: health insurance, unlimited PTO, professional development stipend, and relocation assistance if needed.
  • A culture of innovation where your leadership will accelerate our path to market impact.

If you're excited to tackle this real-world quantum problem and build the energy systems of the future, apply with your resume and cover letter detailing relevant projects.
