Akkodis is seeking a R&D Engineer Aid -Mechanical job with a client in Wilmington, MA. Must hold an Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent to be considered. The role interfaces with multiple engineering groups to resolve product and test setup issues. The successful candidate is a self-motivated individual capable of performing assignments with minimal supervision and demonstrates flexibility, creativity, and initiative when solving problems in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Salary Range: $75/k to $90/k. The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

R&D Engineer Aid -Mechanical responsibilities include:

  • Support Engineering teams in the evaluation of DC-DC and AC-DC power supplies. Perform evaluation and qualification testing on power supply components and assemblies to determine temperature rise as a function of electrical load and thermal cooling environments.
  • Apply a solid working knowledge of electrical circuits and power conversion principles while collaborating with electrical and mechanical engineers to define and implement test setup requirements. This includes measuring input/output electrical parameters and conducting thermal measurements.
  • Responsibilities include setting up mechanical, electrical, and thermal test configurations as required. The role frequently involves modifying existing test fixtures or designing and constructing new fixtures to improve test accuracy and efficiency.
  • Strong computer skills are essential, including the ability to access and utilize corporate databases, data acquisition systems, and automated test equipment. The position requires excellent communication skills, with the ability to compile, analyze, and summarize test results in Excel and PowerPoint for internal distribution to engineering teams.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum Seven years related experience
  • Working knowledge of AC and DC circuits and electrical power systems
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Proficient with basic electronic laboratory equipment, including voltmeters, power supplies, power analyzers, electronic loads, and data acquisition systems
  • Ability to track and maintain calibration records for all thermal lab test equipment
  • Solid understanding of schematics, assembly drawings, and test specifications
  • Excellent soldering skills, including the preparation and installation of thermocouples
