About the Role
As the Principal R&D Scientist , you will be the technical cornerstone of our product development. This isn’t a "maintenance" role—you will be responsible for leading the research, validation, and innovation of medical technologies that do not yet exist. You will work directly with the founders to shape the scientific roadmap of the company.
Responsibilities
- Innovate & Architect: Lead the end-to-end R&D lifecycle for new medical devices, from conceptualizing theoretical frameworks to benchtop prototyping.
- Regulatory Leadership: Act as the scientific subject matter expert for regulatory pathways (ISO 13485, FDA, MDR), ensuring all R&D documentation meets global standards.
- Cross-Functional Synergy: Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to integrate medical-grade sensors and algorithms into user-centric designs
- IP Development: Proactively identify and document patentable inventions to strengthen Persona’s intellectual property portfolio.
Requirements
- Education: PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Science, Biotechnology, or a closely related field.
- Experience: Proven track record in medical device R&D. We value candidates who have successfully navigated a device from the lab setting toward commercialization.
- Domain Expertise: Deep knowledge of [specific tech, e.g., signal processing, biomaterials, or physiological monitoring].
- Communication: Ability to translate complex medical and technical concepts into clear insights for stakeholders and non-technical team members.
