Position Description
We are seeking highly motivated Research Assistants, Postdoctoral Fellows, or Scientists to join our interdisciplinary team working on advanced materials research and intelligent experimentation. The successful candidate will focus on the design, synthesis, characterization, and validation of polymers, battery materials, and related functional materials, while working closely with AI-driven workflows, automated experimentation platforms, and data-enabled R&D systems.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects at the interface of materials science, energy technologies, automation, and AI for Science, accelerating the development and deployment of next-generation materials and products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and conduct laboratory experiments for polymer synthesis, functional material preparation, and related materials development.
- Translate product or research requirements into actionable experimental plans, including material screening, formulation optimization, and performance validation.
- Perform materials and device characterization, including structural, morphological, electrochemical, and functional property analysis.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data, and prepare technical reports, research summaries, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in AI, automation, simulation, and engineering to support digitalized and intelligent materials R&D workflows.
- Contribute to the development of experimental protocols, best practices, and laboratory research processes.
- Support the supervision and mentoring of junior researchers, research assistants, technicians, or students where appropriate.
- Contribute to publications, patents, and technical deliverables arising from research and development projects.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or above in Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, or a related field. A PhD is preferred for postdoctoral or scientist-level appointments.
- Hands-on research experience in polymer synthesis, functional materials development, battery materials, or related areas.
- Strong understanding of structure–property relationships, materials design principles, and experimental research methodologies.
- Ability to independently design experiments, execute laboratory work, analyze data, and solve technical problems.
- Familiarity with materials R&D workflows and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear technical reports and research documents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in battery R&D, especially in areas such as polymer electrolytes, binders, separators, or related energy materials.
- Familiarity with materials characterization and testing techniques such as XRD, SEM/TEM, FTIR, NMR, EIS, and battery testing.
- Experience in product development or industrial R&D for advanced materials or energy technologies.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary projects involving AI, automation, simulation, or digital R&D platforms.
- Demonstrated track record in publications, patents, or industry collaboration projects.
