About the role

Original posting from Robin Radar via Ashby

Bring high-tech blueprints to life. Assemble next-level radar hardware – so our systems perform flawlessly when tracking critical airborne objects.

As our Radar Mechanic, you build the high-tech systems that make our mission possible. You connect complex electronic components, translate detailed electrical diagrams, and deploy software onto integrated servers. Working closely with the Production, Engineering, and Warehouse teams, you tackle assembly faults early to drive continuous improvement. You report directly to the Head of Production and Planning, ensuring every radar leaves our premises tightly constructed and perfectly reliable.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Radar assembly and construction: Perform daily assembly tasks to build complex radar systems following strict requirements. Connect various electronic components, complete precision soldering, and build critical sub-assemblies. Ensure systems are tightly constructed both electronically and mechanically.
  • Diagram translation and documentation: Create detailed work descriptions and test plans based on layouts. Translate electrical diagrams into refined products with meticulous attention to detail. Keep clear logs of your work and report on technical issues.
  • Software deployment and integration: Deploy the necessary software onto servers integrated with the radar system. Assemble and deploy integrated computers, electronics, and essential transmitter equipment. Check that hardware and software components blend together seamlessly.
  • Troubleshooting and continuous improvement: Address faults discovered during the assembly process and create Quality Alerts. Run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues and resolve problems in a timely manner. Drive continuous improvement across our production pipeline.
  • Testing support and logistics: Provide support on the testing phase at specialized test locations outside the office. Operate a forklift in the production facility to transfer items safely when needed. Maintain strict adherence to all company safety and quality standards.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • BA (MBO-4) degree in Engineering or a relevant technical field.
  • Over three years of experience in similar high-tech assembly roles.
  • Solid experience with electronics, mechatronics, PCBs, and complex electrical diagrams.
  • Practical experience with measuring equipment like scopes and vector network analysers.
  • Proven skills in soldering, electronic component connection, and sub-assembly construction.
  • Fluency in both English and Dutch to collaborate effectively with the team.
  • A methodical approach to tasks combined with meticulous attention to precision.
  • Possession of a forklift driver's license or willingness to undergo training.
  • A proactive team player who also thrives when working independently.
  • Ability to occasionally travel for radar testing purposes outside the office.

N.B. Don't worry if you don't tick every box. Our mission is a journey, and there's plenty to learn along the way. If most of this fits, we'd love to hear from you.

Please note: a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) and a background check are part of our screening process. We appreciate your understanding.
