Our client, a pioneering biopharmaceutical company at the forefront of drug discovery and development, is actively seeking a talented and motivated Remote Bioinformatics Scientist to join their innovative research team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the United States. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in computational biology, data analysis, and a passion for leveraging biological data to drive therapeutic breakthroughs. You will be instrumental in analyzing complex genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic datasets, developing computational tools, and collaborating with cross-functional research teams to interpret biological findings and inform experimental design.
Key Responsibilities: Analyze large-scale biological datasets, including next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, microarray data, and proteomic data. Develop and implement computational pipelines and algorithms for data processing, quality control, and statistical analysis. Interpret complex biological data to identify potential drug targets, biomarkers, and understand disease mechanisms. Collaborate closely with molecular biologists, geneticists, and other research scientists to integrate computational findings with experimental results. Design and perform bioinformatics analyses to support various research projects, from target identification to preclinical development. Develop visualizations and reports to effectively communicate complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in bioinformatics, genomics, and relevant scientific fields. Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal bioinformatics databases and tools. Mentor junior bioinformaticians and contribute to the overall scientific knowledge base of the team. Participate in scientific discussions, present research findings, and contribute to publications and grant proposals. Qualifications: Ph.D. or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 3 years of relevant post-graduate experience in bioinformatics research. Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics, such as Python or R. Experience with standard bioinformatics tools and databases (e.g., BLAST, Ensembl, TCGA). Strong understanding of statistical methods and machine learning techniques applicable to biological data. Experience with analyzing NGS data (e.g., WGS, WES, RNA-Seq) is highly desirable. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex scientific information.
