Position Summary

ESM Engineers is seeking a motivated and technically capable Remote Electrical Engineering Coordinator / Project Support Engineer to support our growing electrical engineering team.

This role is ideal for an engineer who wants hands-on involvement in real projects while working remotely. The position combines electrical engineering support, project coordination, technical documentation, and client communication.

Preference will be given to candidates located in Houston or major metropolitan markets where occasional in-person meetings, client interaction, travel coordination, or future hybrid opportunities may be beneficial.

Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Engineering Support

  • Assist with electrical design packages for commercial and industrial projects
  • Prepare panel schedules, load calculations, feeder schedules, and equipment schedules
  • Support one-line diagrams and power distribution layouts
  • Assist with lighting layouts and circuiting plans
  • Support arc flash, short circuit, and coordination study data collection
  • Prepare markups, redlines, and drawing revisions
  • Assist with permit and construction document packages
  • Review submittals for completeness prior to engineer review
  • Support commissioning reports, startup checklists, and field documentation
  • Coordinate RFIs, bulletins, and design revisions

Project / Operations Support

  • Track deadlines, deliverables, and project milestones
  • Coordinate meetings with clients, contractors, and vendors
  • Maintain action item logs and project status updates
  • Help leadership maintain project execution flow
  • manage workflow for the team

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
  • FE certification (Engineer in Training) or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and power distribution fundamentals
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable communicating in a bilingual English/Spanish work environment
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PDF software
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Spanish fluency or professional working proficiency strongly preferred
  • Candidates located in Houston strongly preferred
  • Candidates in MAJOR metropolitan cities are encouraged to apply
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM, Bluebeam, or similar software
  • Experience in consulting engineering, construction, manufacturing, utilities, or commissioning preferred
  • Familiarity with NEC and common industry standards preferred
  • Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred
