Job Description

Our client, a global leader in industrial automation solutions, is seeking a talented and experienced Remote Industrial Controls Engineer to design, develop, and implement sophisticated control systems for a variety of manufacturing and processing applications. This position is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the United States. You will play a critical role in ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and safety of our clients' automated processes. This involves extensive programming of PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems, as well as designing electrical schematics and control panels. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of industrial communication protocols, servo and robotic systems, and have a strong background in troubleshooting complex automation challenges. This role requires excellent problem-solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to manage projects independently from conception through to completion, all within a remote work environment.

Key Responsibilities: Design, program, and implement PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for various industrial applications using platforms such as Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Wonderware. Develop and maintain detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical). Configure and troubleshoot industrial networks and communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus). Integrate and program robotic systems and servo drives to optimize manufacturing processes. Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for control systems prior to deployment. Provide remote technical support and troubleshooting assistance to clients during system startup and ongoing operations. Analyze existing automation systems and identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency gains, and cost reduction. Stay current with emerging technologies in industrial automation and recommend innovative solutions. Collaborate effectively with project managers, electrical engineers, and clients to ensure project success. Document all aspects of control system design, programming, and configuration. Conduct remote training sessions for client personnel on system operation and maintenance. Maintain a high level of technical expertise and share knowledge within the engineering team. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial automation and controls engineering. Proven expertise in PLC programming (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens preferred) and HMI/SCADA development. Strong understanding of electrical design principles, motor control, and power distribution. Experience with industrial networking and communication protocols. Proficiency in reading and creating electrical schematics and P&IDs. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a remote setting. Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective remote collaboration. Experience with robotic programming (e.g., FANUC, KUKA) is a plus. Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., SIL) is desirable.
