Job Description

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Remote Lead Industrial Automation Engineer to drive innovation and efficiency in their manufacturing operations. This is a remote-first position, offering the opportunity to work from anywhere while leading critical automation projects. You will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and optimization of industrial control systems and automated processes across multiple facilities. Key duties include leading automation engineering teams, developing automation strategies, selecting appropriate hardware and software solutions (PLCs, SCADA, HMI), and ensuring seamless integration of new technologies. You will also oversee troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of existing automation systems. Effective virtual collaboration, project management, and strong communication skills are essential for success in this remote capacity. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, robotics, control theory, and data acquisition systems. Experience with Industry 4.0 concepts, IoT, and predictive maintenance is highly desirable. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying automation opportunities, a strong analytical mindset for problem-solving, and the ability to manage complex projects from conception to completion. Responsibilities:

Lead the design and implementation of industrial automation solutions. Develop and execute automation project plans, budgets, and schedules. Select and integrate PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and robotics. Oversee the development of control software and system architectures. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to automation engineering teams. Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation system issues remotely. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing processes. Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry best practices. Stay current with emerging automation technologies and trends.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial automation engineering. Proven experience leading automation projects and engineering teams. Expertise in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI/SCADA development. Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols and network design. Experience with robotics, VFDs, and servo systems. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills. Strong written and verbal communication abilities, effective for remote collaboration. Familiarity with IIoT and Industry 4.0 principles.
