Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Lead Mechanical Engineer to join their fully remote engineering team. This role is instrumental in guiding the design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems and components for our cutting-edge products. You will lead a team of mechanical engineers, oversee project execution, and contribute significantly to the technical direction of our mechanical engineering efforts. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of mechanical design principles, advanced CAD software, simulation tools (FEA, CFD), and a proven track record of successfully bringing complex mechanical products from concept to production. As a fully remote position, strong leadership, excellent communication, and self-management skills are essential. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineering, software development, and product management, to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and components. Oversee and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, providing technical guidance and direction. Develop detailed mechanical designs using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD). Perform engineering analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to validate designs. Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation. Collaborate with manufacturing partners to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of designs. Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical design and manufacturing issues. Drive innovation in mechanical design and contribute to intellectual property development. Work closely with cross-functional teams to define product requirements and specifications. Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and safety standards. Manage project timelines and resources for mechanical engineering tasks. Stay current with advancements in mechanical engineering technologies and best practices.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Bachelor's degree with extensive relevant experience will be considered. 8+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design and product development. 3+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role within mechanical engineering. Expertise in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo) and simulation tools (FEA/CFD). Strong understanding of materials science, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics. Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly). Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to manage projects and deliver results in a remote environment. Experience with rapid prototyping and manufacturing processes. Familiarity with agile development methodologies is a plus.
