Job Description

Our client, a leader in renewable energy solutions, is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Principal Electrical Engineer to join their fully remote team. This senior-level position will be instrumental in shaping the future of power systems design and implementation, focusing on advanced grid-tied and off-grid solutions. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in power electronics, grid integration, control systems, and a proven track record of leading complex, large-scale electrical engineering projects. This is a remote-first role, allowing you to contribute from anywhere in the US.

Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and integration of complex electrical power systems, with a focus on renewable energy sources (solar, wind, battery storage). Perform advanced power system studies, including load flow, transient stability, harmonic analysis, and protection coordination. Develop and validate control algorithms for power converters, inverters, and energy storage systems. Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NEC, FERC). Architect and specify electrical components and equipment for high-voltage and medium-voltage systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless product development and deployment. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering innovation and best practices. Conduct feasibility studies and technical reviews for new projects and technologies. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key technology partners and suppliers. Author technical documentation, white papers, and present findings at industry conferences. Qualifications: Ph.D. or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems or Power Electronics. 10+ years of progressive experience in electrical power systems design and analysis. Expert knowledge of power system dynamics, grid interconnection standards, and control theory. Extensive experience with simulation software such as PSCAD, EMTP, MATLAB/Simulink, ETAP, or PSS/E. Demonstrated experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS) and renewable energy integration. Strong understanding of power system protection and grounding principles. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and mentor engineering staff. Experience working in a remote, collaborative environment is highly desirable. Professional Engineer (PE) license is a significant asset. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned engineer to drive innovation in the rapidly evolving renewable energy landscape from a remote location.
