Job Description

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with a specialization in aerospace components to join their world-class engineering team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to the design, development, and validation of critical aerospace systems. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of aerospace materials, advanced mechanical design principles, and a deep understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations. You will play a key role in complex projects, collaborating with a distributed team of engineers and subject matter experts. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, meticulous attention to detail, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of aerospace technology.

Key responsibilities include leading the mechanical design of aerospace components and systems, ensuring compliance with stringent performance, safety, and reliability requirements. Developing detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings for complex parts and assemblies using industry-leading software. Performing advanced engineering analyses, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and thermal analysis, to validate designs and predict performance under extreme conditions. Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, including systems engineers, materials scientists, and manufacturing engineers, to ensure seamless integration and manufacturability. Developing and executing comprehensive test plans for prototype and flight hardware, analyzing test data, and providing recommendations for design improvements. Researching, evaluating, and recommending advanced materials and manufacturing processes suitable for aerospace applications. Identifying and mitigating potential design risks and failure modes through robust analysis and validation. Contributing to the creation of technical documentation, reports, and specifications required for regulatory approval and program milestones. Mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance on complex mechanical design challenges. Staying abreast of emerging aerospace technologies and methodologies, and incorporating them into design processes. Ensuring all designs adhere to strict aerospace standards such as AS9100, MIL-SPECs, and FAA/EASA regulations. This role is instrumental in developing innovative solutions for the next generation of aerospace vehicles.

Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution. A minimum of 7-10 years of direct experience in mechanical design and engineering within the aerospace industry. Proven expertise in designing and analyzing complex aerospace components and systems (e.g., propulsion, structures, mechanisms, thermal management). Extensive proficiency with advanced CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, NX) and FEA/CFD analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, STAR-CCM+). Strong understanding of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes (e.g., additive manufacturing, precision machining), and testing methodologies. In-depth knowledge of aerospace industry standards, regulations, and certification processes. Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and collaborate effectively with remote, distributed teams. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts. Eligibility for US security clearance may be required for certain projects. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned aerospace engineer to contribute to groundbreaking projects in a remote capacity.
