Job Description

Our client, a pioneering force in the field of advanced robotics and automation solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Remote Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their distributed engineering team. This fully remote position is ideal for a seasoned engineer passionate about designing, developing, and testing sophisticated mechanical systems for robotic applications. You will play a crucial role in the entire product lifecycle, from conceptual design and simulation to prototyping, testing, and production support, all from your home office.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in mechanical design principles, materials science, and mechatronics, with a demonstrated ability to tackle complex engineering challenges. Responsibilities include conceptualizing and designing robotic components and systems, performing detailed CAD modeling and analysis (FEA, CFD), selecting appropriate materials and manufacturing processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, software developers, and control systems specialists. You will contribute to defining system requirements, generating technical documentation, and ensuring designs meet performance, reliability, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and test advanced mechanical systems and components for robotic applications. Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings using industry-standard software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD). Perform mechanical analysis, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), to validate designs. Select appropriate materials, components, and manufacturing processes to meet design specifications and cost targets. Collaborate with electrical and software engineering teams to integrate mechanical designs with control systems and electronics. Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for prototypes and production units. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical design issues throughout the product development cycle. Generate and maintain technical documentation, including design reports, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs). Stay current with advancements in mechanical engineering, robotics, and automation technologies. Contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design and development, with a focus on robotics or automation systems. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA) and simulation tools (FEA, CFD). Strong understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and mechatronics. Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote team environment. Proven ability to work independently, manage projects, and meet deadlines. Experience with prototyping and testing methodologies.

This fully remote role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge technology development from the convenience of your own workspace, driving innovation in the exciting field of robotics and automation.
