Job Description

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Power Systems Engineer to join their fully remote team, contributing to the design, analysis, and optimization of complex power generation and distribution systems. This role is critical for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of energy infrastructure. You will be responsible for conducting power flow studies, short-circuit analysis, transient stability simulations, and developing protection schemes. The ideal candidate possesses a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems, extensive experience with power system modeling software, and a deep understanding of grid operations and regulatory standards. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for collaborating with a distributed team and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Perform detailed power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, stability, and contingency analysis. Design and configure electrical protection systems for generation, transmission, and distribution networks. Develop and validate power system models using industry-standard software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory). Contribute to the planning and design of new power infrastructure projects. Analyze system performance data to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with reliability standards. Develop technical specifications and documentation for power system equipment and projects. Collaborate with internal teams and external clients to define project requirements and deliverables. Provide technical expertise and support for grid integration of renewable energy sources. Stay current with evolving grid technologies, standards, and best practices. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving operational issues within the power system. Qualifications:

Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems. Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in power system analysis and design. Expertise in power system modeling software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD/EMTDC). Strong understanding of power generation technologies, transmission and distribution systems, and grid operations. Knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g., NERC/CIP, IEEE) and regulatory requirements. Proficiency in analytical techniques and problem-solving methodologies related to power systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly. Proven ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote environment. Experience with renewable energy integration and energy storage systems is a plus. Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable. This is a fully remote opportunity, enabling you to work from anywhere within the US.
