Research Engineer / Scientist (2 positions)

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is looking for responsible, self-motivated and high-caliber individuals to fill the positions of Research Engineer / Scientist. The appointees will be required to work in an engineering center on the development of wastewater engineering technologies, in particular on combined processes treating organic waste and wastewater, and assist in the management and technological coordination of the laboratory and preparation of research project documents.

Major duties of the appointees will include:

• Acting as the officer in charge for implementing good laboratory practice;
• Working closely with Scientific Officer to support the research, administration and management of the Center and other internal and external stakeholders;
• Coordinating multiple research projects in collaboration with different parties;
• Working on research development and commercialization initiatives;
• Organizing workshops, seminars and/or large conferences, and coordinating programs delivery at both undergraduate and graduate level;
• Preparing project documents including proposals, plans and reports; and
• Performing any other ad hoc tasks as required.

Applicants should have a PhD in Engineering or related disciplines with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience as a laboratory scientist, preferably in water and wastewater engineering with teaching or training and commercialization experience. The ideal candidates should have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua). Experience in computational drawing skills in using AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup & SolidWorks is preferrable. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. Housing benefits will also be provided where applicable. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
