The Panpradist Lab, located within the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, is dedicated to advancing healthcare through innovative research and interdisciplinary collaboration. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in a dynamic academic environment.

Purpose:

The Research Engineering/Scientist Associate II will conduct advanced research, assist in establishing protocols and facilitiaties related to the laboratory. The RESA II will collaborate with other labs on projects and provide guidance on related projects to other lab members.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments.
  • Manage complex equipment setup, training, maintenance, and safety protocols.
  • Conduct collaborative research with other labs at UT Austin and other institutions.
  • Contribute to scholarly publications, grant writing, and progress reports.
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in their research projects.
  • Administrative tasks

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in a relevant laboratory research experience in molecular biology or related disciplines.
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR, cloning, recombinant protein expression, and purification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience working in BSL2 laboratory environments.
  • Familiarity with enzyme activity assays and protein characterization techniques.
  • Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, GraphPad, R, Python).
  • Strong experimental design and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Salary Range

$71,126 (prorated rate at 20 scheduled weekly hours: $35,568)

Working Conditions

Typical laboratory environment with responsibilities that include handling equipment, conducting experiments, and collaborating with team members. Physical requirements may include standing for extended periods and handling hazardous materials with appropriate safety measures.

Work Shift

  • Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 20 hours per week.
  • Occasional adjustments and extended working hours may be needed based on research projects that include international collaborators.
  • This position requires in-person work.
