Purpose

The Research Engineering/Scientist Associate III will perform research and oversee projects in the areas of hydraulic fracturing, sand control and other relevant areas in the Center for Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering under Dr. Mukul Sharma.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research related to geo-mechanical modeling of hydraulic fractures.
  • Conduct research on multiple projects by communicating with sponsors and PI; manage and maintain progress/status of the project, which includes preparing/submitting progress reports; receiving feedback from the project sponsors and PI. Collaborate with other students working as Research Assistants for Dr. Sharma on related projects.
  • Promote Hydraulic Fracturing and Sand Control Industrial Affiliates Program. This includes making presentations and visiting potential future sponsors/member companies to join the Hydraulic Fracturing and Sand Control Industrial Affiliates Program.
  • Research and write proposals for future funding opportunities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree plus two (2) years' experience OR Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years' experience
  • Experience using specialized research equipment used in the field of research

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering
  • Knowledge of geo-mechanical fundamentals
  • Experience working with both Service companies and Operator companies
  • Ability to quickly learn geo-mechanical software and the ability to write computer code that implements physical models
  • Demonstrate research ability through relevant publications
