Our client, a leading research institution focused on advancing human health through cutting-edge genomics, is seeking a talented Research Scientist specializing in Bioinformatics and Genomics. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to conduct advanced computational analysis and contribute to groundbreaking studies from your home office. You will be responsible for analyzing large-scale genomic datasets, developing novel computational tools, and collaborating with wet-lab scientists to interpret biological findings.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze large-scale genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic datasets using advanced bioinformatics pipelines and statistical methods. Develop and implement new computational approaches and algorithms for biological data analysis. Collaborate with experimental biologists to design studies, interpret results, and generate hypotheses. Perform quality control and data curation for raw sequencing data. Utilize programming languages such as Python and R, and bioinformatics tools (e.g., BLAST, Bowtie, GATK) for data analysis. Develop and maintain robust workflows for data processing and analysis. Visualize complex biological data for presentation and publication. Contribute to scientific publications and grant proposals. Stay current with the latest advancements in bioinformatics, genomics, and related fields. Manage computational resources and ensure efficient use of computing infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field. A minimum of 3 years of relevant research experience in bioinformatics, with a strong focus on genomic data analysis, is required. Proven experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis is essential. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R, along with experience using standard bioinformatics software and databases, is necessary. Strong understanding of statistical principles and machine learning techniques applied to biological data is highly desirable. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are needed to work effectively in a remote, multidisciplinary team.
