## Research Scientist – Functional Genomics

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Scientist to join our team in Boston, MA on an onsite basis. This is a contract role where you'll play a key role in supporting small molecule drug development by applying functional genomics techniques to address critical biological questions.

### What You'll Do

You'll conduct laboratory experiments to support our genomics research initiatives, working with cell culture, gene editing, flow cytometry, and next-generation sequencing. A significant part of your work involves following established protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure accuracy and reproducibility of results. You'll maintain detailed and accurate documentation of experimental procedures, observations, and results throughout your projects.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams will be central to your role—you'll analyze data together and contribute meaningfully to project goals. You'll also play an important role in ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards in our laboratory environment.

### Your Background

This position requires a strong background in biological sciences and hands-on laboratory experience. The ideal candidate will have one of the following:

• Ph. D in Biological Sciences, OR

• Master's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, OR

• Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience

Hands-on experience with cell culture and molecular biology techniques is essential. Experience with flow cytometry and next-generation sequencing (NGS) is a plus and would strengthen your candidacy.

### Compensation and Employment Details

The pay range for this position is $47–$53 per hour. This role will be eligible for overtime pay in accordance with federal and state requirements. Please note that this is a temporary role with a third-party agency partner on assignment at Vertex. The individual selected will be offered employment as an employee of the third-party agency partner; compensation, medical benefits, fringe benefits, and other terms and conditions of employment will be presented by the third-party agency partner upon offer. The actual pay rate will be based on factors including skills, competencies, experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
