The HHR Internship presents an immersive, professional research experience, ideally suited for those seeking a career in quantitative healthcare research. This remote role, commencing in May and concluding in September, allows interns to enhance their research skills within a supportive, multi-disciplinary team. You will contribute significantly to projects that utilize the vast Humana Healthcare Research Database, including data from Medicare Advantage beneficiaries across the country.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As an HHR Intern, you will support our Real World Evidence team with a range of responsibilities, including:

  • Assisting in the conceptualization and design of studies, conducting literature reviews, drafting proposals, and creating statistical analysis plans.
  • Carrying out statistical analyses as outlined in study protocols under the guidance of experienced research scientists.
  • Contributing to the reporting and interpretation of research results.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • A completed or in-progress master's degree or doctoral candidate in a healthcare or research-related field (such as public health, epidemiology, applied economics, public policy, outcomes research, biostatistics, or health services research).
  • Experience in conducting observational or prospective health-related research, employing regression frameworks and comparability enhancement methods (e.g., propensity score matching).
  • A proven track record of collaborative teamwork in research settings.
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries, along with experience in at least one statistical programming language (such as SAS, R, or Python).
  • A strong interest in pursuing a career in healthcare research.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with claims data research.
  • Experience in publishing research in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Please note that while this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be necessary.

Compensation and Schedule

The pay range for this internship reflects a good faith estimate for full-time employment levels at the time of posting. The expected compensation will vary based on geographic location, skills, experience, and qualifications.

$37,440 - $96,800 per year
