Job Description

Position Summary

Full-time, hybrid position located in San Diego. Grant funded through April 30, 2030.

Responsibilities

  • Design, conduct, and assist with biomedical research or experimental protocols to improve health across diverse populations.
  • Partner with internal and external constituents to understand key requirements, plan and execute research projects, and produce actionable data to support strategic initiatives and drive continuous performance improvement.
  • Provide advanced integrated analytics in support of research and organizational objectives.
  • Source, manage, and analyze large amounts of unstructured data; synthesize and communicate results to facilitate research data analysis and data-driven decision making.
  • Design data modeling processes, create algorithms and predictive models to extract key data, and analyze the data and share insights with clinical, research, and operational stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on manuscript development and dissemination of research results.
  • The right candidate will have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets and working with collaborators to improve outcomes and performance.
  • The position will work closely with the leadership team to identify strategic funding priorities, identify potential funding streams, develop and submit proposals, including but not limited to NIH and foundation proposals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned (e.g., teaching graduate level courses in advanced data analytics).

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of progressive experience in government related grant development and management.
  • Experience with statistical modeling and interpretation of complex data.
  • Experience in analyzing large-scale omics, clinical, and imaging datasets using rigorous statistical and machine learning approaches.
  • Experience in R, Python, SPSS, SAS or other related statistical software.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL, ETL, data modeling, and reporting technologies.
  • Excellent critical and analytical thinking, customer service skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a team setting with an interdisciplinary group including physicians, data analysts, scientists, and laboratory staff.
  • Strong English and language skills required in both speaking and writing.
  • Experience in AI and multi-modal data analysis (preferred).
  • Experience in predictive modeling for clinical intelligence (preferred).
  • Prior experience with Epic data structures and reporting environments (preferred).
  • PhD or MD with emphasis in biomedical and health research (required).
  • Preferred Ph.D. in Data Science, Quantitative, Clinical, or Engineering related field.
  • CITI research training certification.
