A Day in the Life

The Advanced Research team in Singapore is responsible for conducting cutting-edge research within the scope of the skin and scalp microbiome, anti-ageing, and longevity. Within this broad domain, we engage in highly multi-disciplinary research, forging strong partnerships with internal L'Oréal departments and key external scientific experts to scout and validate emerging technologies. Aligned with the global vision of L'Oréal R&I, our goal is to uncover novel biological mechanisms, deliver proof-of-concept for new active ingredients, and transform these upstream innovations into novel cosmetic, dermatological, and consumer care products.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead,designand execute relevant in vitro assays tovalidatenew technologiesandidentifykey mechanisms of action. Your goal is to develop next-generation cosmetic concepts in skin, scalp, and hair biology that align with L'Oréal's global strategic direction.
  • Integrate and analyse complex datasets derived from various omics platforms to uncover novel biological pathways at the intersection of the microbiome, immunology, and longevity.
  • Champion cross-functional communication with L'Oréal R&I’s global teams and build strong networks with external partners in the Singapore ecosystem. This includes working flexibly across L'Oréal premises and external partner sites to drive projects forward.
  • Maintain detailed andaccuratelaboratory records and take the lead in authoring and reviewing study protocols, technical reports, scientific presentations, and publications.

We Are Looking For

We are seeking an innovative scientist with a strong drive to transform research into tangible products. You are a collaborative and adaptable team player, ready to thrive in a dynamic, multicultural environment. You are a good fit if you have:

  • Strong academic credentials with a PhD in Immunology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Systems/Computational Biology, or related scientific fields. Exceptional candidates with aMaster’sdegree and a proventrack recordof equivalent industry or research experience will also be strongly considered.
  • A scientific training record in skin, scalp, or hair biology, coupled with research experience or a strong conceptual understanding of cellular mechanisms, tissue homeostasis and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting and integrating multi-omics datasets (e.g., transcriptomics, proteomics, metagenomics) to extract biological insights and drive concept generation. Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R is highly desired.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to drive research from ideation to delivery. Experience working within an industry-facing R&D environment or managing public-private academic collaborations is a strong advantage.
  • Fluency in English with excellent scientific presentation skills.
  • Youpossessa passion for cosmetic product discovery and a collaborative, flexible mindset to thrive in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
