Tree Line Capital Partners, LLC (“Tree Line” or “TLCP”) is seeking to a hire an Analyst in its Restructuring & Special Situations Group (RSSG) located in its San Francisco office, with a target start date in May 2026.

About Tree Line:

Tree Line Capital Partners is a private credit asset management firm focused on direct lending to the lower middle market. The firm provides first lien and unitranche credit facilities and equity co-investments to lower middle market borrowers with between $5M-$30M of EBITDA in North America in transaction sizes up to $150M. Tree Line currently manages $5.0B in investable capital, and has completed over 450 transactions for acquisitions, recapitalizations, refinancings, expansion projects and other growth capital needs. The RSSG team is responsible for monitoring underperforming assets within the direct lending portfolio and leading workout and restructuring activities. The RSSG team is also responsible for managing post-reorg debt and equity positions, including roles supporting turnaround and performance improvement initiatives, capital markets transactions and exit processes.

Job Description:

Analysts at TLCP act as the primary day-to-day leaders for account management and will be assigned a subset of portfolio accounts with monthly/quarterly reporting responsibilities. As a Special Situations Group team member, you will support the management of complex credit situations. You will assist in analyzing underperforming assets, modeling restructuring scenarios, monitoring performance of the direct lending portfolio, and supporting strategic initiatives within RSSG. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can synthesize financial information, comprehend legal documents, and contribute to risk management and decision-making processes across the private credit portfolio.

In this role you will:

  • Support the development and execution of strategies to navigate active restructurings that maximize risk adjusted returns across the Tree Line Restructuring & Special Situations Group portfolio
  • Perform detailed financial and valuation analysis, including due diligence, liquidity & collateral assessments, claims & capital structure reconciliation, turnaround strategy assessment, and recovery modeling.
  • Analyze and support performance improvement efforts for owned portfolio companies
  • Communicate and develop strong relationships with management teams and advisors in connection with strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance, to understand key trends and drivers of portfolio companies and drive positive outcomes
  • Provide analysis to support negotiations with various constituents including lenders, equity sponsors, management, advisors and legal counsel
  • Conduct review and analysis of legal documentation
  • Draft and present memos to the Tree Line investment committee and senior leadership
  • Participation in monthly watchlist meetings along with ad hoc discussions with internal deal teams and senior team members to discuss work out strategies

Basic Qualifications:

  • Completion of pre-employment qualification assessment (link below)
  • Superior academic achievement in relevant courses
  • Strong interest in corporate finance, valuation, financial accounting, and law, including bankruptcy procedures, creditor rights, and restructuring strategies
  • Excellent analytical, modeling, and communication skills
  • Demonstrate the hunger to quickly learn complex restructuring concepts/skills
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Enthusiastic and achievement-oriented character with leadership potential and initiative
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power Point, and Word); Excel proficiency in financial statement modeling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ Year of professional experience in middle-market Restructuring Consulting, Opportunistic Investing, Workouts, Investment Banking, Private Equity, and/or Direct Lending
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues of all levels as well as an ability to interact with borrowers and private equity sponsors
  • Strong ability to juggle priorities, multi-task and take ownership of projects is essential
