Risk Controller

A leading global trading business is seeking a Risk Controller to join their Singapore team. As a core member of the risk function, you will play a pivotal part in monitoring positions, valuation, and strengthening risk controls while partnering closely with the team.

What you'll do:

As a Risk Controller, you will be responsible for preparing daily position reports, producing weekly MTM valuations, engaging directly with senior stakeholders, coordinating trade capture processes, owning risk management frameworks, assessing counterparty risks, supporting system enhancements, establishing policies, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

• Prepare and review daily position reports, ensuring thorough reconciliation and analysis from the risk system to maintain accuracy across all trading activities.
• Produce and report weekly mark-to-market (MTM) and fair value valuations for all positions, delivering timely insights to key stakeholders.
• Engage closely with senior leaders including the Business CFO and Corporate Risk Office by addressing queries and providing accurate data to inform decision-making.
• Coordinate with the central deal ticket team to ensure all trades are captured accurately within cut-off timelines, supporting seamless operations.
• Take ownership of risk management processes across the business, proactively identifying areas for improvement and implementing robust controls.
• Assess counterparty risk by conducting sanction checks and supporting submissions for credit limit approvals, safeguarding the organisation’s interests.
• Support ongoing system enhancements and implementation of new risk controls, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Establish and maintain comprehensive risk policies and procedures that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure adherence to financial regulations by staying updated on accounting, regulatory, and system developments relevant to the trading environment.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Risk Controller position brings extensive experience in risk control or reporting within commodity trading environments.

• Chartered Accountant or MBA (Finance) qualification provides a solid foundation in accounting or risk principles essential for this role.
• Strong understanding of accounting and finance principles enables you to interpret financial data accurately and support informed decision-making.
• Familiarity with SAP and other risk/reporting systems ensures you can navigate technology platforms efficiently for effective reporting.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office allows you to analyse data comprehensively using tools such as Excel for detailed reporting.
