The Position:

The Risk Manager is responsible for administering and managing the company's insurance programs, workers' compensation claims, and vehicle claims. This role serves as the primary point of contact for risk-related matters across the organization, working cross-functionally with Human Resources, Safety, Operations, and external adjusters and vendors to minimize risk exposure and ensure timely, effective resolution of claims.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage the company's insurance program, serving as the primary liaison with brokers, carriers, and agents.
  • Lead the annual insurance renewal process, including negotiating coverage terms, pricing, and policy conditions.
  • Respond to internal and external requests for certificates of insurance and endorsements.
  • Manage all aspects of workers' compensation claims from initial report through closure.
  • Partner with HR and Safety to investigate incidents, gather documentation, and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Monitor open claims, track return-to-work status, and partner with HR on coordination of light-duty or modified-duty arrangements where applicable.
  • Identify trends in workers' compensation claims and work with Safety to develop proactive loss prevention strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of all vehicle incidents, claims, and repair activity.
  • Work with operations and fleet management to address recurring vehicle risk issues.
  • Manage general liability claims from initial report through resolution, tracking status, and reserves.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership regarding open claims, and handle coordination with third-party adjusters and legal counsel as needed.
  • Identify trends in general liability claims and recommend risk mitigation strategies to reduce future exposure.
  • Manage property damage claims from initial report through settlement and restoration completion, ensuring the company maintains accurate records and documentation.
  • Work with facilities and operations to identify and address recurring property risk issues and support loss prevention efforts.
  • Assist in the collection, tracking, and reporting of safety and loss statistics across the organization.
  • Maintain accurate records supporting OSHA recordkeeping and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Prepare periodic reports and dashboards summarizing claims activity, loss trends, and risk metrics for leadership.
  • Support the Safety team with administrative functions as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Finance, or a related field, a plus
  • Five (5) plus years of experience in insurance, risk management, or a related field required
  • Working knowledge of commercial insurance programs, including general liability, property, auto, and workers' compensation required
  • Experience managing workers' compensation claims and working with adjusters and carriers, preferred
  • Experience with fleet or vehicle claims management, preferred
  • Familiarity with OSHA recordkeeping requirements and safety data reporting, a plus
  • Experience working in a multi-location or field-based organization, a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel 20% - 30%
