Risk Manager

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Risk Manager to oversee all aspects of insurance, loss control, and enterprise risk management for a growing organization with both construction and property management operations. This role will be responsible for developing and executing risk strategies, managing insurance programs, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Insurance & Risk Transfer
- Negotiate premiums and place coverage across all major insurance lines, including General Liability/Umbrella, Property, Auto, Builders’ Risk, and Workers’ Compensation
- Develop and manage project-specific insurance programs, including OCIP and CCIP structures
- Oversee employment practices liability and self-insured risk programs
- Support the development of a captive insurance strategy
- Partner with internal teams to provide certificates of insurance and coverage documentation for project closings
- Work closely with development teams to ensure appropriate coverage throughout project lifecycles
Loss Control & Safety Management
- Implement and manage company-wide loss control strategies across construction and property management operations
- Conduct site visits independently and in collaboration with insurance carriers
- Establish and enforce organization-wide safety and security standards
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures for property management and field teams
- Collaborate with security teams to enhance and enforce safety protocols
- Draft and implement Health and Safety Plans (HASP) for construction projects
- Manage company-wide safety training programs
- Track and analyze risk data to support loss prevention and mitigation efforts
- Oversee and maintain the organization’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program
Administrative & Compliance
- Manage incident reporting systems and ensure accurate documentation and follow-up
- Oversee vendor qualification programs and maintain master vendor agreements
- Review and approve subcontractor insurance coverage in coordination with carriers
- Update and maintain trade contractor agreements as needed
- Maintain and analyze risk-related data to support continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with all internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
- 7+ years of experience in risk management, insurance, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of construction and property management risk exposure
- Experience with OCIP/CCIP programs and complex insurance placements
- Familiarity with captive insurance structures is a plus
- Proven ability to develop and implement safety and risk mitigation programs
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
