Risk Officer - 6+ Month Contract

KorumLegal is assisting a financial services client seeking an experienced Risk Officer to join its panel of professionals in Hong Kong. This is a 6‑month contract opportunity as an independent contractor, operating within a highly regulated environment, with the potential for extension or conversion to a permanent role. The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing enterprise risk frameworks to support the firm’s continued business growth. The contract runs from July 2026.

Key Responsibilities

The role will involve designing, implementing, and enhancing the firm’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining risk management policies and procedures, conducting ongoing risk identification and assessments, monitoring key risk indicators, and recommending mitigation actions where risk thresholds are exceeded.

The position will also lead Business Continuity Management (BCM) initiatives, including business impact analyses and the development, maintenance, and testing of business continuity plans. The Risk Officer will maintain the risk register and prepare regular risk reports for senior management and the Risk Committee, providing clear analysis of risk trends and actionable insights.

Requirements

The client is seeking a seasoned risk professional with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Law, or a related discipline. Professional qualifications such as FRM, CPA, or equivalent are strongly preferred. Candidates should have a minimum of 7 years’ risk management experience, ideally gained within Hong Kong financial institutions or professional services firms, with strong exposure to ERM frameworks and hands‑on BCM experience.

Excellent written and spoken English and Mandarin are required, along with strong Chinese drafting skills. The successful candidate will be self‑motivated, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, regulated environment.
